Yes, this is entirely a personal decision. Some families choose to include meaningful items such as photographs, notes, or a lock of hair along with the ashes. Others scatter the ashes and keep these items inside the urn instead. If you plan to add extra items, make sure the urn has enough capacity.

How Do Cremation Urns Open?
Urn openings vary by design. Most cremation urns feature a threaded screw-top lid, while others may open from the bottom or back. Pet urns commonly use bottom openings for added security.

Should the Urn Be Sealed?
